I guess you’ll just need to wait and see if the game runs on Windows 7 either normally or in Compatibility Mode. In this way it is possible to minimize suf-fering, provide support and. There is also the issue of end users not realistically being able to receive the Extended Support Updates through January 2023, as those appear to only be available to volume license/enterprise users. Method: qualitative exploratory study carried out in the second semester of 2018. It just makes no sense from a technical support standpoint. With that in mind, Blizzard isn’t going to design games for an OS that isn’t supported even for basic installation anymore. XPRESSIVE II UPDATE WIN7 INSTALLThe other side of this coin is that Windows 7 will not install to a Kaby Lake or later CPU or natively for AMD’s Ryzen and later lines (you have to jump through some hoops as Microsoft isn’t the one providing the drivers for those newer chipsets). There will likely come a point in the near future when graphics card manufacturers put out a final update for Windows 7 and then only make new drivers for Windows 8/10. So again, it is a choice you made and you’ll need to accept the responsibility of that choice. Most sensible developers are looking forward, not backward. Building for Windows 7 compatibility now would force Blizzard to maintain that support for years after the EOL stage, which has already passed. The more time passes, the more modernized features developers put into their games that aren’t going to exist or at least won’t necessarily work properly or at all on Windows 7. ![]() There are a handful of games out there that won’t run properly on even my Windv2 build that I’ve locked it down to because the 2004 updates were so disastrous for gamers until just recently. Usually modernization means adding features that don’t exist on older operating systems and their drivers and/or future-proofing, to what extent a developer can do such a thing, by making the build target only for the latest OS. XPRESSIVE II UPDATE WIN7 MODIf this “MOD” truly requires DX12 then there is a technical reason… but if this MOD doesn’t actually use DX12 then this is completely out of line…įYA - There are still OVER 100+ Millions computers running Windows 7 so if Blizzard wants to alienate that many potential customers, so be it.Ī 20 year old game that is being modernized under the hood. I have NO ISSUE running ANY other Blizzard game on Windows 7. I don’t know why Blizzard gives a hoot what O/S their customers play games on and I certainly think that they have no right playing ANY role in an O/S upgrade, it is really out of place. I never expected that a 20 year old game with what equates to a “MOD” (the original game still runs in the background) that I used to play on Windows XP as well as Windows 7, would not work on Windows 7. There are PLENTY of reasons to remain on Windows 7 and if you don’t know those reasons, educate yourself before you “blindly” word vomit on a forum. I don’t need the insults from anyone or the scarcasm. I have my own reasons, none of which I need to “Justify” to anyone here. XPRESSIVE II UPDATE WIN7 UPGRADEI am an IT Specialist also and I am very aware of the risks and the process to upgrade it. I have several Win10 machines but my GAMING PC runs Windows 7. With regard to Windows 7, this is not a Microsoft forum nor is it something I am asking for anyone’s opinion on. I opened a seperate support ticket under “Account, App, & Shop” and GM Fantastress who was VERY nice took care of it for me. I mentioned this but it fell on deaf ears I guess.
